Title: Tesoro MD - Bandido II uMax
Post by: ppTRN on March 23, 2022, 03:31:58 pm
Hi everyone, I am passionate about MD and I layed my eyes on this particular schematic, the Bandido 2 uMax. I don't think it is a recent design, but according to internet reviews, this was, and apparently still is, one of the best designs at all. So, instead of just build it and test it, i just wanted to understand how it works first.

I am just about to graduate in electronic engeneering (bachelor degree), so I have some experience, but i really cannot figure out how does this work. It is clear that an oscillator generate the TX signal, picked up by the RX coil and amplified. But why are all the 4066 gates (except for gate A, what about that!?) controlled by a signal that in some way depends on the TX signal? This is just my first doubt. What's up with IC10 and IC8? How is the audio stage driven by IC3 and the 4024? all of it, in general, doesn't make a lot of sense (to me, obv).

Is there anyone of you who can at least point me to the right direction? Can any of you explain what is going on on this schematic?

Thank you very much for your time!

You'll find the schematic attached to this thread.
