The cautionary tale of chinverter

When people buy cheaper mechanical tools from China like lathes or milling machines they usually expect that what they get is only a starting point, and that it will require extensive rebuilding to become a trustworthy tool. It sounds like the same is true of electronics...

(And reading all the things you found wrong with it, and the the things you had to do to fix it, there is no way a device like that could successfully be designed by young inexperienced engineers. It would certainly take wise old heads to get that right, working in an environment where there was sufficient time to test and debug before going into production. The real cost of such a device is not in the parts, but in the time and salaries of the designers.)
