There is a huge number of connector types.  Yes, your connector looks like it might be JST, but other brands are white and partially shrouded.

Start by posting some measurements.  The most important one is pin spacing, aka "pitch."  A picture of the female contacts can also help

The way i do it is go to Digikey and in parametric search filter by parameters such as number of pins, pitch, pin shape (rectangular,round,blade), shrouded or not, if the shroud with lock, pin length above PCB, connector size, etc. Then browse the filtered results.
