Courtesy of a control panel disposal I have a handful of (electrician rejected) old Tranilamp transformers - had a quick look on-line and they seem ubiquitous, yet don't seem to get re-purposed.
I wonder if there are any ideas, previous projects etc, out there on what else you could do with these things.

A couple of questions first:
1. What do you mean by "electrician rejected", are they in any way damaged or sub par?
2. A little bit of detail as to what their input and output voltages are as well as power rating would help.

Irrc, Tranilamps are small panel mounted transformers with integral bulb holders, allowing torch bulb type filament lamps to be used as mains indicators. If so, they probably put out something like 4.5 to 6V at around 1W max.
Photos would help.

so the items were removed from a previously working panel compartment - as its previous use is now obsolete. "Electrician rejected" just means if the electricians wanted them I would not have them. (think of copper busbars)

I doubt it
Radwell sell them for next to nothing

Thanks for the info, so 240V input and 6V@300ma output. :)

They're cool in their original form. I've used some of the similar Allen-Bradley indicators and buttons for their originally intended purpose.
