Trivial Socket Related Question
« on: February 15, 2023, 01:02:02 pm »
So I'm building an Isolation Transformer in a box... 240V in one side and 110V isolated out the other...

First I was going to drill a hole and have a flying lead with a 2 pin Mate N' Lock adapter which ultimately will connect to the Arcade CRT monitor I hope to fix and then I thought it might be nice to have it adaptable to other devices so thought a 110V outlet socket would be good and then a flying lead with connectors on both ends.

Anyway... I have settled on...

Is this a poor choice given the prongs will have 110V on them?   What would be a better socket?

Nice; much better solution.

Added a C13 Socket to my shopping basket and also ordered a C14 cable which I will terminate with my special connectors.

Thanks!

No reason why the earth pin of the socket should not be connected to mains earth.

apart from defeating the whole point of building an isolating transformer

It does not defeat "the whole point of building an isolating transformer".  The power output pins of the socket are isolated from mains.
