Tubular extruded heatsink manufacturer
« on: June 13, 2019, 03:23:36 am »
Hi,
I'm looking for a company that sells heatsinks like this: https://www.fischerelektronik.de/web_fischer/en_GB/heatsinks/D02/Miniature%20cooling%20aggregates/$catalogue/fischerData/PG/LAM4/search.xhtml

I would go with fischer, they just don't have the length I need and I'd like the raw stock anyway.

I don't know the exact term to describe this other than tubular extruded heatsink.

Let me know if you know any manufactures for this.

Thanks.

Interesting concept. I have never seen those in the wild. Maybe the purpose is to exhaust the hot air into ducts and then take it away?  Otherwise I cannot think of a reason to use them.

Maybe you can ask https://www.boydcorp.com/thermal/heat-sinks/extruded.html

Why don't you call Fischer?
I'm pretty certain that the extrusion tool is their property, but that doesn't mean they won't sell the profiles in full length.

They are common in electronic loads and system PSUs. You can mount a lot of devices on both sides, and all hot air gets straight out from back of the case. Great for dissipating a lot of heat.

If you are making a lot of these, its not too expensive for a custom die. But if 40x40mm works thats quite a standard size so you should find something that works.

Thanks so much. That's the exact size I'm looking for.

I called fischer and they gave me a quote for custom and the price wasn't as bad as I expected.
