Tech with scope needed in Palm Harbor, FL
« on: July 23, 2013, 01:04:59 am »
Is there anyone here from the Palm Harbor, FL area with a scope that would like to look at coil signals on a Lamborghini Aventador?

I make an ignition timing controller.  The installer says everything is ok until they turn on the nitrous, then the ignition seems to "break up".

I can PM the installer's name and cell number if you are interested in helping.

Thanks for any help.

Hmm, would love to help with this if I were closer, but I'm in Indiana. They wouldn't do something so silly as to run the nitrous solenoid from the same power wire as your ignition controller I presume? Or have the controller so close to the solenoid that the EM field is screwing with it? Did the n2o system go on at the same time as the controller or did it work fine until the controller was installed? Did they change ANYTHING else?

Heh, I just checked out your website, saw you had a blurb from Todd at Protomotive. A good friend of mine used to work for him; do you know Ben Strader from EFI University?

What a small world.  I've never met Ben, but we have talked a few times on his efi101 forum.

I told the installer to check this thread.  It's possible there is an install issue as you suggest.

Well, that would be my first avenue of investigation, anyways.

Yeah it is pretty neat how you can run into people you didn't realize were that close to your circle pretty much anywhere. I grew up with Ben, he lived on the next street over from me when we were kids. I went out to visit him at his first shop before he started the EFI101 thing.

Any news back from the installer yet?
