| upper limit of thyristor di/dt? |

| coppercone2:
What is the upper limit of thyristor DI/DT for high power devices? The best I find on digikey are pretty similar to a hydrogen thyratron, at around 1000A/uS, for the hockey pucks. for the size/cost, are MCT's or possibly GTO's where I should be looking? |
| Miyuki:
1000A/uS is basically a limit for all this devices SCR, GTO ... Higher rate will cause degradation over time so can be used for limited time |
| coppercone2:
is there a general SCR safe operating curve with regards to extreme surges? more like a unsafe operating curve. I am interested because a thyristor costs some where like 200-400$ and a SiC IGBT bridge costs like 1500+$ |
| Miyuki:
Most datasheets say just contact manufacturer for this cases |
| coppercone2:
that seems unattainable for home users. |
