Voltage regulator delayed start
« on: January 22, 2021, 11:09:10 am »
Hi Guys,

I'm new and happy to be here!

I'm starting a little circuit based on a voltage regulator, to convert 12V to 11V. This LM2941SX regulator has an ON/OFF pin that I want to use to delay the 11V power on (for example, when 12V is present at the input, the 11V output will be ON after around 500ms).

The ON/OFF pin enables the regulator at low state (under 2V).

My idea was to add a RC model to controls the ON/OFF pin, so when the 12V appears, the RC output will be 12V, then slowly decreasing until reaching 0V.

Do you think it's a good idea? Seems too easy for me :)

Have a nice day!

It seems sensible to me, as long as the time delay isn't critical. You might want to put a diode across the capacitor, so it discharges quickly, when the power is disconnected, preventing it from powering the input, with no power connected.
