Wanted 1uF 250V
« on: October 14, 2019, 06:08:21 pm »
I really like small SMD electrolytic caps e,g, EEVEB2E100Q but they are very expensive >£2... but so is a 1uF 250V ceramic... at least >£1 and >£2 in small quantities
Is through hole radial electrolytic the only sensible choice for such a device?
Thanks in advance
PS
I do need the voltage rating

Film capacitors could be an alternative. I have a 1uF 450V through hole one right here on my desk which is about 10mmx10mm.

It's this one specifically: https://lcsc.com/product-detail/CBB-Capacitors_CBB21Metal-film-capacitors-1uF-105-5-450V_C109544.html

Ten yankeecents in 5-piece lots (plus customs duties, shipping, handling fees, blah blah):

Five yankeecents in 10-piece lots (etc.etc.):

THT 400V caps do have the advantage of being jellybeans in the off-line SMPS designer's stock.
