This is on the tag of a distribution transformer. Does anyone know what the number 12470Y mean. Thanks |

12470 is the voltage across phases, and Y means it is a wye-connected primary. The primary voltage betwen each phase and the neutral (star) point is 7200. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three-phase and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delta-wye_transformer for more details. |

12470V is phase to phase voltage. 7200V is the phase to neutral voltage. |
