use a 74595 as a 74164?
« on: September 14, 2015, 03:35:22 am »
I'm looking to use a 74HC595 in a circuit instead of a 164.  Keeping OE low is the easy part.  To delay STCP, I'm thinking of putting a 2.2K resistor in series from SHCP.  I figure with about 10pf of input capacitance the pulse will be delayed more than the 15ns setup time specified in the datasheet.
Should this work?
