| Transformer with 2 windings of 12V at 33.3A. What to build? |

:-\ I just scored one in an auction of 'unused' new parts. The thing is fairly big at around 170Hx152Wx85D and heavy. Spec: 400VA Pri 2 x 115V, sec 2 x 12V@33.3A (or series 24V). 30 odd Amps is fairly large for general electronics. I don't need a welder and i have enough other rubbish to be put to use as boat anchors. I'm thinking maybe an old school wet-cell battery charger with BIG bridge rectifiers, switchable for 12V or 24V that'll get near the right voltage... Appreciate your ideas. |

Find a local radio amateur and make a new friend :) I had a transformer like that once, in fact, thinking about it, it was bigger as the rating was 13V @ 100A. I built a shack power supply into a two drawer filing cabinet with the transformer in the bottom and the electronics in the top. One supply ran all of the equipment in the room. |
