Title: Where Can I Buy 9-Conductor #22 tinned Solid Vinyl Sheathed Cable?
Post by: SuzyC on May 06, 2021, 12:26:47 pm
Several years ago, I was able to buy a used spool of about 30-yards of this kind of this off-white colored unshielded vinyl sheathed cable with 9 #22 AWG solid conductors at a hamfest.  The cable is almost identical in appearance and diameter to LAN cable.

The 9-conductors within are not twisted pairs.

I have been using it for wiring breadboards for almost ten years and it is so easy to strip(thin vinyl insulated conductors) and the plating of the individual conductors makes for long-lasting, easily inserted, low-resistance connections to breadboards.

I am pretty sure the plating on the individual solid copper conductors is silver, but it might just be some bright metal alloy.

Because I can cut each wire length to closely fit the connection distance, and that is has 9-colors (black, brown, red, or,grn, blu, violet, gray, white..solid colors, no stripes) that allows me to so easily to dress and shape each connections and also that  it allows me to so easily, (at a glance) trace or identify connections on a breadboard, I love this stuff.

It was likely a cable used for insulation displacement point to point wiring in industrial equipment or intercom?

Help! I am down to the last few feet!

Does anyone know where can I get a spool of this again?

Is there a reason you want that stuff instead of individual wires?  There are a ton of places that sell kits of 5-10 spools of different color solid 22AWG wire specifically for breadboarding.
