hi, there are a lot of signals that need to be matched within 10%. say 50ohm impedance matching leaving you (45 - 55ohm) range. i got 3 calculators here : layer stackup and thicknesses: the first calculator saturn pcb: the second calculator excel made from various websites: the 3rd calculator altium i set the solder mask thickness to 0 in case it affect the calculation as i didnt see others considering it and the impedance: i checked altium impedance equation: saturn pcb differ from excel calculator with around ~10% which is the limit and that is being said while im ignoring the pcb manufacturer PCB thickness +/- 10% .. altium is too far from that so which one so which one would you use ? ================= i've seen this post before https://www.eevblog.com/forum/altium/difference-between-altium-and-saturn-pcb-toolkit-impedance-calculation/ in that post various experts states that you should tell pcb manufacturer what you want .. what if i dont want to i want to tell them but to take their stackup and do the design based on that ? in this case you cant control impedance within 10% ? |
