Wire strand notation
« on: June 19, 2021, 03:12:52 pm »
A manufacturer says their USB cable has this for the strand count:

(7*0.10TC)*2C+(41*0.10TC)*2C+B(32/0.10TC)

Can anyone help me figure out what this means?  I'm not familiar with this notation.  I need to make sure this is a very high quality cable.

(7*0.10TC)*2C+(41*0.10TC)*2C+B(32/0.10TC)

7*0.1 = 7 strands of 0.1mm wire
2C = two conductors (a pair)

TC = tinned copper

B = shield/braid (maybe)

I don't think this will necessarily tell you whether it is a good quality cable or not.

32 strands seems like not much for the shielding. I would hope it has foil as well.
