Wire to PCB connector suitable for USB 2.0

I'm looking at getting a custom cable assembly made which will be:

[Panel Mount USB connector (fem receptacle)] - [Cable] - [Connector] - [PCB]

I feel like surely there's some sort of connector out there that normally handles this situation, the USB A plug and socket take up a heap of room. Is there any problem with using a 5-pin JST PHR-5 for example? Obviously it's not ideal but I'm not sure about the typical way this is done besides spending a heap of time digging through Digikey's connector offerings. EMC is of course a concern for me. I suppose I could do a USB micro socket on the wire and a PCB plug but I feel like I can do it better.

I have tried asking the manufacturer to suggest a connector etc but I have had no luck. Any suggestions?

I believe PCs commonly use a 2x5 header with 0.1" spacing, and one pin removed as a key.

  Never even thought to check how desktops do it and they need to consider EMC.

Great, I'll just go with a regular header then.

You may want to use a friction fit or some header with locking mechanism ... regular 10 pin headers work on desktop computers because you don't move computers too much, but if you make a lightweight device it may take physical shocks during shipping, or it may be moved around etc etc.
