Joule thief on breadboard
« on: July 22, 2017, 05:06:33 pm »
My first Joule Thief on Breadboard.

The man himself pointed me to using a cap and a diode to get an RGB LED working. Otherwise, it will appear fixed in the starting color (I guess restarting constantly).

The coil is improvised from a lamp driver, keeping one original coil and somehow (not very neatly) wrapping the other using some thin wire. Both have about 0.4 mH.
The cap is also taken from something, and is 100 uF. There's a standard diode, NPN and ~220 ohm resistor.

I have no idea or way to measure the frequency, but the only important thing is - it works. :) No matter if something is simple, every success is nice.
