X-Ray effects on microcontrolers
« on: February 26, 2020, 02:21:20 pm »
Hi!

Im currently working on a micro focus x-ray setup for various purposes around the hobby. One of the first very obvious things to have a look through is ICs, in particular micros and potted devices containing them. However nor im curious how much x-ray dose the program can handle and how much the chip it self can handle before destruction.

My source is a repaired thermofisher psx5 micro focus head putting out 20-70keV and 0-200uA so im very well in the usual range for circuit board inspection machines, in fact the manufacturer lists it as a common application.

Id be glad if someone working in this area could help me out a bit.
