I want to share with you this is little rework station that I have built out of frustration, after consecutive failures in the available affordable options (853d+, 909d) Objectives: * affordable (keep below 50$ excluding the enclosure and shipping) * reliable * maintainable * open sourced * modular (3 modules: controller - interface - 24V AC/DC converter)the features list so far * fast rise time. * USB and Bluetooth connectivity. * programmable (heat profile of various ICs) * easy to calibrate with low cost thermometer. * buzzer for notifications. * 240x320 2.4" Color LCD display. * G16 8Pins connector socket for the heat gun. * firmware safety features: - system level auto-sleep after a certain user defined time. (wakes up upon any interaction with the front panel user interface) - the heat is switched off after a certain user defined time. (set as a precaution measure against forgetting the unit running when heat is switched ON) - optional audible 500ms beep every 60 seconds when the heat is ON (works as a reminder/notifier before the previous feature kicks in)Enclosure * currently 3D Printed, PLA treated with fire retardants (just in case). * eventually will be upgrade a tin or aluminum enclosure. * planning to add a sort of a bracket to which the airgun can be attached over the pcbFront Panel: * currently 3D printed, I think will keep the same design if upgrading to a tin or metal enclosure.Firmware * coming soon.Com Protocol over Bluetooh: * coming soon. Status: I have been using the original prototype almost daily in the last year and half. added the bluetooth communication feature in the second iteration. To note that i have used the MSP430G2553IPW20R as the main uC on both the interface and the controller boards. a closer look at the EVA32 rework station: Post edits: 20200603_1: added description of firmware built-in safety measures to the feature description list. 20200608_1: added a video showing the interface of the EVA32 rework station. |

Neat project :D What kind of heat "fan"/"gun" do you use? Do you plan to open source the design? |

I do intend to opensource the design. I am also still wondering if I should go for a little crowd-funding campaign or not.. I have invested some considerable time in this project, it would also constitute a personal learning experience to check the ins and outs of crowd-funding, never done that before ;D ;D the heatgun is the regular type that comes iwth the 909d rework station. sells somewhere between 8 and 12 USD on aliexpress. |

(Attachment Link) --- End quote --- Yeah, I have the exact heat gun. It is fine, I like it better than the "big" stations with the big, bulky air hoses. I don't like the station that is attached to it. It is really slow and I would love a sleep function on it. I like the crowdfunding idea. It means that I would not have to built and troubleshoot it and can concentrate on other stuff. That is as long as the software gets opened up (afterwards) so that it can be maintained and improved. |
