Google Chromecast audio/portable speaker earth noise solution
« on: November 22, 2017, 08:13:07 pm »
Hi,

Using the Google Chromecast Audio with most battery portable speakers is an absolute nightmare when the chromecast device is powered by the usb out port of the speakers. (really bad noise and distortion)

I'm told this is a "floating earth" problem and I am wondering if there is a simple very small circuit that will clear this up.

Powering the chromecast from either a separate portable battery (current solution) or the mains seems to be the only current solution.

Does anyone know any elegant (small) decoupling solutions out there that will work without affecting the quality ?

thx

ian

Its the opposite of a floating earth, connecting the power and audio to the same device creates an earth loop.
