ZephPaste: Six month shelf life without refrigeration??
« on: November 01, 2013, 01:08:16 am »
Does anyone have experience with this stuff:

"In-Stock! Always Fresh! Six Month Shelf-Life Without Refrigeration. Formulated Specifically for the Bench."

Sounds like a fantastic product if everything they say is true?

Not sure what to say, but for 15 bucks you can't go wrong! The only real way to find out wether it is bullshit or not is to try it! Personally, i think 6 months no refridgeration solder paste sounds a bit suspicious, but you never know...

If you buy some, can you let us know how it works?

I use Kester R276 with fantastic results, and truthfully, I don't refrigerate it.  We use it for R&D/proto/rework.  I have tubes a year old or more that work perfectly when we open and use them.

I've been burned with bad pastes before... bought some filled syringes on eBay that someone was obviously just filling from a larger container, and they were full of air bubbles, and didn't dispense worth shit.  And have had pastes that you need to reflow within an hour or they just won't flow correctly.

So I'm real hesitant to try anything new unless someone can vouch for it.
It's not always the most popular person who gets the job done.
