What soldering iron and iron tip are you using?
It sounds like one or both are not up to the task.

They make more of a difference than most people think.

I checked the fault according to the troubleshooting table on page 53 of the service manual.

I'll try and find that post, but I'm amazed at the prices some of this software. But yeah I forget even something like Matlab, has some $2,150 perpetual license on their website.

Test Equipment / Re: SDS800X HD Wanted Features
« Last post by mawyatt on Today at 12:36:01 pm »
A nice feature for all the Siglent DSOs that support Bode Plots and Math Functions would be to allow the DUT Input and Output selections to support not only Channels 1-4 but also the Math Function. With this added capability using the Bode Plots for Impedance and Admittance measurements/plots becomes more straight forward without the need for additional support equipment such as Current/Differential Probes.

For example, one could use the Math function to subtract the voltage probed across a Reference Resistor with a pair of Channels to use as the DUT current for the Bode Plot.

Best,

I suspect it's a problem on the DC board

Amazon and Ebay begging for product reviews before I have a chance to test them out.  They think the review should be based on shipping and first appearances. I like to test things out first.  They could give me 2 weeks to get to know the product before filling my email box with junk.

The chipquik is low melting alloy (around 80°C), but it does not like going in my solder wick (MG Chemicals SuperWick #453).  I do have a propane torch soldering iron tip that is a half inch diameter, I will try that route.  The problem with heating the whole thing to the necessary temp is the surface mount parts under and near the relay. I also worry about lifting the foil off the PCB. There are many SMD parts around and under the relay and I cannot risk them all falling off.

Unfortunately SYST:MEM:INIT didn't make any difference.

Looking at the CPU32 manual, it seems quite possible to build a debugger for it. It would be nice to have a less valuable target to develop against, though.

There should not be anything wrong with the components. I have installed a whole new set of brand new components

Repair / Re: Replacement for Fluke 845AB OPR switch?
« Last post by tatel on Today at 12:21:34 pm »
I found your videos about F845AB quite interesting.

It's perhaps a lesser bad that the broken switch is a quite simple one; after looking at the picture, one could think at least a couple way to fix it. Thanks for your suggestion, I'll look at it.
