What if somebody feeds in a 250MHz signal into a Siglent by mistake?

That's what I just tried to answer with the last paragraph in my previous post. If you have one or two channels active, the Siglent will see the 250 MHz signal just fine and will reconstruct it properly because it's sampling with 1 or 2 GSa/s. If you have three or four channels active, the Siglent will switch in a steeper 200 MHz low-pass filter, and will hence suppress the higher frequency components which would otherwise cause aliasing at 500 MSa/s.

A review and a teardown might convince.

That's not going to come from Dave, especially not for Siglent gear. He seems to have a problem with Siglent, and every time he does a video he has to say "wow, none of the famous Siglent rust!" He also doesn't tend to learn the scopes at all. Like spending at least 10 minutes figuring out 'what's wrong with the scope,' and why it was maxed out at 100MHz...and eventually figured out he was in 10 bit mode on the SDS2000X+. He didn't RTFM.

If you want in-depth reviews like Performa01's, then you need Performa01 to do it. Nobody has done anything on the level of what he did for the 800X HD.

Don't get me wrong, I usually enjoy Dave's videos, but they really are just entertainment. Especially now that he's focused on spreading further on social media. I hope he does justice to the two scopes he recently received from Siglent.

Perform01's offering could become a textbook!

If here are requisite tigers in the next room eating cheesecake to make bug appear, than that information needs to be shared.

On the picture, there is a mask that has been obviously made by hand.

You should have seen that sign, that said "Tigers room 22", but yes, it would have helped from my side to say, that they were eating cheesecake. In fact i didnt know, that the cheesecake was of importance.

And again, smartass, antisocial, but so true to you signature on your account.

"Sometimes, after talking with a person, you want to pet a dog, wave at a monkey, and take off your hat to an elephant." (Maxim Gorki)

After talking to you I do marvel at how nice and intelligent monkeys are..

Your apology was obviously just a manipulation not to get blocked so you get to keep being obtuse troll.

Martin isn't about to void his warranty! He needs the warranty intact when he sells the scope a year from now when the opportunity arises for him to get an 8GHz SDS7000A in exchange for $500 and a high-five.

Will 4 GHz do for a start? ;)

Of course! But he just got the 3000X HD, so you gotta let him play with it for a year before he gets bored, and the 8GHz will be out by then. 😉

Why stop at exactly 200MHz? Where did that magic number come from?
From the scope's datasheet (SDS824X HD). The point is that it can actually do what it's specified to do, in contrast to the DHO924 (or an "upgraded" DHO8x4).

Seems to me like you're inventing use cases that just happen to match the Siglent.
Seems to me like you are getting defensive about the Rigol again, trying to rationalize its awkward design compromises.  ::)

eg. What if somebody feeds in a 250MHz signal by mistake?
Wouldn't it be cool to have a scope which automatically switches in a proper 200 MHz input lowpass when three or four channels are activated, to avoid aliasing? Want to venture a guess which scope might do that?

when triying to use the mask feature on the zoom window, i then was not able to get the zoom window back to the state where it was before setting up the mask (see picture).

Edit: Did you attach the wrong picture maybe?

Yes it was indeed the wrong picture. Since i had the same issues again with a strong indication, that this is not just an issue, i moved over to the bug topic.

Yes, i have to take a step back and analyse more and not ton confuse others. But at the same time i would like to encourage others to be a bit more playful in trying things out that i wrote. Because some might find what i missed. As 2N3055 might have found nothing wrong, he could have tried other things too, like creating a mask by hand, which is probably the difference with this issue. (This sentence has truely only an objective meaning)

Can I ask why are you multiple posting same issues in several different topics?
You started now double spamming.

And as people already said to you multiple times: I'm not going to put in ANY work because you are too lazy to do proper write up.

With bugs you don't accuse and let other side defend themselves.

It is quite the opposite: Unless you can prove a repeatable method to replicate error and demonstrate it step by step, then probably you made a mistake or misunderstand grossly how things work.
This whole page is full of noise that contributes to nothing but aggravation. Would you please stop this? Get over it! I dont double post, i moved OVER. People suggested having different topics...  :-//

BTW:
What we just did together was actually teamwork, as we discovered quite an important detail. Think about this!

I got my last 2 jobs from contacts/headhunters on linkedin, and both time I got a salary bump.
If I scale those raises for the next 20 years, then my linkedin page has about the same monetary value as an asset as my house.

PCB/EDA/CAD / Re: JLCPCB alters soldermask without any notice

It was nearly ten years ago since this last occurred, but I have been known to leave fatal bugs in my code and spend a weekend on-site helping to reflash boards.

Most of the time, you don't need to clean pads. Sometimes you do, because of stray flux splatter or oxidation. Not sure if those were ENIG that particular time, or if I cheaped out and went with w/e you call the other thing. But even the standard ENIG is not always great on these boards. But that's why I like JLC. At their prices, who cares?
