Repair / Re: SONY DVP-S9000ES dead
« Last post by paronaram on Yesterday at 09:38:57 pm »
Located C101 (22uF 16V) ESR 5 \$\Omega\$
I even removed it from the circuit, but still nothing.
Measured ferrite beads:
FB101 - 0.9 \$\Omega\$
FB103 - 1.1 \$\Omega\$
FB104 - 0.3 \$\Omega\$

FB101 and FB104 were measured as a reference
From removed C101 I measured the resistance it was about 1.8k

I still can't measure 3.3v on CN201 but I do have 3.3v on the "BUZZ" board CN301 (4-81) I have 3.3V there, and it the same 3.3V that converted from 5V B+
I think I can't measure 3.3V because by meter leads are too big, tried with the resistor leg wrapped around, and I think I saw something... very weird connector

Other Equipment & Products / Weller Piston O-Ring
« Last post by 2X on Yesterday at 09:37:53 pm »
Hello,
I have the Weller SA21A desoldering pump and I his vacuum isn't so power anymore. I bought a new one but I would like to repair and my old one. I measured the O-ring from the piston and the dimensions are below. Do you know if these O-rings are made from some certain material or they are just a regular O-ring? I didn't find any official replacement form Weller. The only spare that I found is the desoldering tip (Part Number: SA21A1).

Microcontrollers / Re: ELM327 (serial to OBDII CANbus converter) discontinued

Nothing magic about OBD.  It's just CANBus.  Wikipedia has all the info you need to decode whatever you want on the bus:

Any micro with a CANBus port would work.  It's not particularly high bandwidth either.

RF, Microwave, Ham Radio / Re: WSJT-X on Pi

I tried to set up WSJT-X on my raspberry Pi 3 that I just upgraded to Bullseye. I'm not a Linux bub, and all I recall is something about dependencies.

I used Method B: https://www.fs-pcba.com/how-to-install-wsjt-x-on-raspberry-pi/

I think after updating to the newer OS that I was able to get through step 2, but maybe the response was still not found.

I tried step 6. to fix broken install, and after the scary message, I said "Yes, do as I say!"

But still broken.

I was installing the package from here: https://wsjt.sourceforge.io/wsjtx.html

And I don't know what to try next.

Oh, I googled and found this site, which I'll try tonight.

http://www.hamskey.com/2017/12/install-wsjt-x-and-fldigi-on-raspberry.html

Don't compile from source, just download the arm deb file from the prinston site and click on it to install it, dpackage will deal with the dependencies and it will just work.

900V, 500A.

If you put big holes in your PCB, you can screw the studs right through the board, so I guess that's "PCB Mount".

To the OP.
Are you sure you are talking about a 'normal' diode, and not a 'special' type of (apparently chaotic) diode?

You seem to have given too little information for me to be sure.

But, are you thinking of Chua's diode?

Beginners / Re: Why writing style and grammar matters in posts

A major issue with trying to write English phonetically is that pronunciation is not constant or consistent. Not only does it change regionally, and over time (accents change with each generation), but also by placement within a phrase (weak forms and strong forms).

Even something as simple as the short "a" in cat varies dramatically in sound depending on where you hear it spoken.

Phonetics can be really complicated.

Buy/Sell/Wanted / WTB/LFS Gossen Metraline DM 62 GREEN RUBBER CASE
« Last post by GigaHurts on Yesterday at 09:26:45 pm »
I have recently bought a used but working DM 62 but it came without the lovely bright green rubber case/protector. (Photo for illustrative purposes)

It seems they don't have this for sale anywhere (contacted the german Gossen branch for support but so far no response). They only sell spare cases for their Metrawatt product line, not the Metraline sadly. However, i read somewhere that this is a rebranded meter by some indian company. Does anyone know what model that is? Maybe the case can be obtained for the original model name.

Maybe someone here has a broken one sitting on the shelf and wouldn't mind parting with the case? DM42, 61 and 62 should all be compatible.

Suggestions on how to DIY a case, or maybe some universal rubber cases that might fit this model are welcome!
