Very interesting. Unfortunately certification takes a long time.

e-Cat is a fraud, not worth spending time on.

This is going on too long to be a fraud.

Perhaps the most startling (and most controversial) report is by an Italian-American engineer-entrepreneur
named Andrea Rossi. Rossi claims that he has developed a tabletop reactor that produces heat by an
as-yet-not-fully-understood LENR process.

Rossi has gone well beyond laboratory demonstration; he claims that he and the private firm Industrial Heat,
LLC of Raleigh, North Carolina, USA, have actually installed a working system at an (undisclosed) commercial
customer's site.

According to Rossi and a handful of others who have observed the system in operation, it is producing
1 MWatt continuous net output power, in the form of heat, from a few grams of "fuel" in each of a set
of modest-sized reactors in a network. The system has now been operating for approximately six months,
as part of a one-year acceptance test. Rossi and IH LLC are in talks with Chinese firms for large-scale
commercial manufacture.

Several "reliable sources" have visited Rossi's commercial site, and have verified that the system is
working as claimed, as evidenced, for example, by the customer's significantly reduced electric bills.

On the downside, from a scientific point view, Rossi's work leaves much to be desired, to say the least.
Rossi remains tight-lipped as to technical details, preferring to protect his company's intellectual
property through silence.

However, a few details have now come to light. For example, Rossi was just granted a patent by the
U.S. Patent Office. The patent includes some heretofore unknown details, such as the contents of the
"fuel" in Rossi's reactors: it is a powder of 50% nickel, 20% lithium and 30% lithium aluminum hydride.

Given that Rossi has been unwilling to divulge many details, several other research teams have been
working largely independently with similar experimental designs.

In October 2014, a team of Italian and Swedish researchers released a paper entitled Observation of
abundant heat production from a reactor device and of isotopic changes in the fuel. This paper claimed
substantial power output, with a "coefficient of performance" (ratio of output heat to input power) of
up to 3.6. The experiment was performed at an independent laboratory in Lugano, Switzerland.

The most intriguing results in the 2014 Lugano paper are the before-and-after analyses of the "fuel,"
which found an "isotopic shift" had occurred in this material. In particular, the team found that
lithium-7 had changed into lithium-6, and that nickel-58 and nickel-60 had changed to nickel-62.
This is based on two different types of mass spectrometry measurements, using state-of-the-art equipment.

These changes can only be due to nuclear reactions of some sort -- not conventional chemistry.
The Lugano team is reportedly working on a new experiment, independent of Rossi, but as yet no
details are known.

Another research team performing Rossi-type experiments is headed by the Russian physicist Alexander
Parkhomov. He and others working with him report observing excess heat with a Rossi-type reactor
running at 1347 degrees Celsius, with a coefficient of performance of 3.0. They also report observing
excess heat in at least ten other experiments of this type to date.

The present authors are as perplexed as anyone by these developments. As we observed in an earlier
HuffPost article, Rossi's work in particular leaves us with three stark choices:

(a) Rossi and those working with him or independently have made some fundamental and
    far-reaching blunder in their experimental work;

(b) Rossi is leading a conspiracy of sorts to cover dishonest scientific behavior;

or

(c) Rossi has made an important discovery with sweeping potential impact.

With each passing month, and with more researchers finding similar results, (a) and (b) look less likely.

Steorn Orbo went on for a long time... still bullshit.

Interesting that the nickel "fuel" has now become mostly a mixture of lithium and lithium aluminium hydride. Those are energetic, reactive materials, they carry a decent amount of chemical energy which they can easily release in the form of hydrogen and heat... and a decent energy input has to go into producing them, you can't just go and mine elemental lithium. How much energy is accounted for in the system by chemical conversion of that fuel?

Get back to me when they've published their work in a single credible peer-reviewed scientific journal and it's reproducible as described in the peer-reviewed paper.

I read that Andrea Rossi didn't want to do that because he wants to make money with it. And you can't make much money when
everybody knows how to do it. First he needs to get enough patent coverage in most countries.

The good thing is, he just got a patent request granted. We'll see.

That means diddly-squat, the whole "peer-review" process is bogged down with conservative reactionary curmudgeonism that prohibits real scientific advance. Besides, we don't want "public" science catching up with secret government science!  :scared:

 :palm:

Look up "Petroldragon". Look up his involvement with USA DoD and the "thermoelectric panels" that were supposed to be highly efficient. Look up "Lugano Report". Look up his history of convictions in Italy. A leopard does not change his spots.

Rossi's story keeps changing about what the "fuel" is, whether or not there are isotopic transformations, and etc. There is no confirmed report of any "third party" using his system for power generation. The famous "public" demonstration of the alleged 1MW plant put out far less than 1MW and there was a huge diesel genset running, powering it the entire time. The "independent" tests (like the "Lugano Report") were done with Rossi  handling the loading and unloading of the reactor and with him supervising every step of the measurement process, in addition to being methodologically and conceptually flawed. It is disingenuous to say the least, to claim that that "experiment" was in any way "independent".
Parkhomov works in his kitchen! He handles LiAlH4 like it was sugar!

They have reported 17 experiments using Nickel powder and LiAlH4 and did not see any signs of excess heat.

Within five hours of the first publicly commercial one being sold, there will be an amatuerish teardown video of one on youtube. Within two days a more professional one, within a week a detailed analysis. Provided it works as advertised the first clones will be made within the month.

Could you please provide a link to said patent? Also, to the best of my knowledge, once you get a patent or apply for one you have a fair amount of time to apply for a patent everywhere else, while being covered.

e-Cat is a fraud, not worth spending time on.
This is going on too long to be a fraud.

Fortunately, science doesn't work like that!

e-Cat has too many red flags for it to have any credibility. But if Rossi produces a working product, he can prove us all wrong.

Prediction: Rossi will never produce a working product.

Jeeze I can't believe there are still idiots individuals out there who believe Rossi and his scam technology. He comes up with a variant like the E-Cat, hot-cat,  "pick a letter of the alphabet"-Cat type of device every year or so. Claims the old one was abandoned since the latest one is so much better. Free energy, unlimited heat, woo hoo bull-*hit like that. He is a complete farce and if you look into his past you will see what a joke he is. Petrol-Dragon was just one of many prior devices he tried to scam with.

Go look at the video's where he purports that the thing is putting out KW of heat. The steam exiting the thing is easily only a 100W or less. He created a deceptive percolator that pumps most of the water out of his exit pipe and claimed it was "dry steam".

On another of his devices he used a heat exchanger. Only problem was he mechanically tied the two side of the heat exchanger so that heat from his input hot water would also heat the same metal where the output thermocouple was hooked to. The measurements then were skewed toward a possibility that the thing was operating significantly hotter than it really was. Just a lot of really shady type of science being performed with gullible people egging him on.

As others have said if it were real it would have been purchased and reverse engineered within a month of delivery. Yet we see countless stories of him selling these devices to select customers. The only thing he was selling beides a lie was a license to build these devices later when they are released. He makes money by dragging his feet and never delivering goods. At least 5 or more years now.
