Creepage and clearance in offline SMPS?
« on: September 06, 2023, 08:43:39 pm »
Hi,
Does anyone have the copies of the standards EN60010 and EN62368, which detail the clearance and creepage distances for EU Offline SMPS's?
I believe they changed recently?.....pri-sec is now 8mm?
Also, within the primary side.....flyback drain to Primary ground is 1.5mm?
(Where flyback drain goes up to 700Vpk).

Why is IPC2221A a free download but EN60010 and EN62368 are not?

Oh FFS, do you really claim to be an SMPS engineer? You're just taking the piss now!

You can get cheap copies of standards documents from Estonia, a member of the EU so with full access to EN standards.  Legal and with no question that they are up to date.  Sharing copyrighted standards documents here is a no go.

Half an hour's pay, if not even less, for a good engineer - I'm sure you (or your employer) can afford it.

Any professional engineer would have access to such documents, since they are a necessary prerequisite to producing a professional product.

Only amateurs wouldn't have access.
There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.

Really?

Most people here are under the impression that treez/ocset/faringdon has been professionally involved with SMPSs for decades, and has had 30+ jobs.

Which bits of that are true and false?

20 years and 42 jobs to be more accurate.  The self-characterisation would explain a lot though!
