Electronic load, remote interface only
« on: January 03, 2025, 05:55:38 pm »
Does anyone know of any companies that make electronic loads that are meant to go inside of a product and not be user accessible?  I want something that only has a remote control interface (serial, Ethernet, USB, etc...) and no user interface or displays. I'm looking for something in the 1500W range that is non-regenerative.  I do have more detailed specifications I want to meet but for now I'm mainly wondering if this type of product exists and who makes it.  For context the product being built is an industrial battery charger/discharger and this would be used to discharge the battery and would go in an enclosure with the rest of the system.

Probably Chroma is worth trying. But these kind of loads are also relatively easy to design yourself. For a similar purpose I have designed & build switched resistor DC loads for a battery manufacturer. These loads are remote control only.
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.

Whether it has a display or not doesn't matter, as long as it can be remotely controlled.
You can go with 1x 1500W, or maybe 3x 500W loads in parallel.

In any case its going to be a large enclosure and need good ventilation.

I'd prefer a COTS solution as it would be one less thing to design/manufacture/maintain and would come with all of the features I need (CC/CR/CP, remote control interface, etc...).  It could have a screen but I would really prefer if it didn't.

I know TDI made some of these back in the day under the dynaload name but searching their current production parts is difficult because they don't have pictures or datasheets available.
