Please help me to estimate power losses
« on: April 27, 2021, 10:19:45 pm »
Hi everybody.💐
I am a beginner in this field.
And I would like to estimate analytically the losses of a three level T type inverter (please see the attachment).
Is there any formula for estimating conduction , and switching losses.
To design an appropriate heat sink based on that ?
Thank you very much.💐💐💐

No formula, really.  The conductive losses can be estimated by Ohm's law, the ON resistance times the current.  The switching losses depend on layout.  During the switching time, the transient voltage and current in each part multiplied by the duration, divided by the frequency.

Long leads make switching time longer and voltages spike.
