Title: (UK) source of flat belts for pick and place system
Post by: philpem on July 04, 2018, 06:21:16 am
I'm working on repairing my MDC ECM97 pick and place system, and now the time has finally come to replace the worn out PCB loader conveyor belt.

Does anyone know of a reliable UK source of ~2mm thick "seamless" flat belts, 6mm wide and 1830mm in circumference/length?

The majority of the ones I've found start at 10mm.

Thanks
Phil

(A previous version of this message listed the belt size as 1940mm. It's actually 1830mm. Needless to say a 1940mm belt is rather too long for the machine, unless you want to fit an idler pulley to the belt)

If you can find a wider one, it probably wouldn't be hard to make a simple jig to trim it down

Yeah, that was my backup plan.

I've found a 10mm wide belt at a local bearings supplier, just waiting for it to arrive. I can probably make up a fairly precise belt cutting jig on the lathe if I need to.

Joy, turns out I mismeasured the belt. It's actually 1830mm... which leaves me with a pair of 1940s to experiment with the belt cutting rig.  :-/O
