12 volt tractor is not working
« on: December 31, 2023, 05:01:18 pm »
12 volt tractor is not working, it is charging, it turns on and off, when the gear is shifted forward and reverse, the lights come on but it does not move, I checked the engine and the battery is fine, I think the problem is related to the cables, the service did not find a solution.

I'm trying to find a solution to this problem. I tested the battery, I tested the engine with 12 DC, I connected it directly, it worked, is there a problem with the system role that provides the transition, I can send detailed pictures. What I don't understand is this: Even though this seems like a simple problem, I couldn't find a solution. I tested the arrival of the current, but the value is very low. The tractor has a role that adjusts the amount.
I'm not a robot, I don't want to waste your time, I won't extend the topic too much, if I find a solution, I will write it as an answer. Note, there is a tractor relay system, this system changes and adjusts the current values, I need to change this, it seems like a solution.
This is too big for this article, more important issues should be taken care of, it is a simple issue compared to the issues here.By the way themadhippy leave me alone you are everywhere all the time now

Please provide more information: make/model, photographs, engine size, or is it just a child's toy powered off a 12V battery?

The battery works at 12 volts. A 12 volt DC motor is connected to the gear. It turns the tire. There is a switch under the gearbox. This 6-pin switch makes it go back and forth. There is an on/off button, but these are directly connected to the battery and its cables. There is a red cable from there. It is connected to the 6-pin switch and acts as + - is directly connected to the battery terminal

I'm still confused.

IIUC, there is a DPDT switch under the gearbox. This switch is activated by a gear stick which selects forward, neutral and reverse. It does this by reversing the polarity of the supplied voltage. This voltage/current is varied by a circuit. There is also a relay to control power from the battery.

Alternatively, does the DPDT switch control a set of relays to drive the motor rather than switching the motor current directly?

everything you wrote is true It has a relay connection and is connected to the battery.

Try connecting a voltmeter to the motor terminals and then try to make the tractor go forward and reverse.  For safety, take appropriate precautions just in case it decides to move.  This should tell you whether the motor is getting some power.   The meter may not register 12 V because there may be control circuitry that outputs PWM or some other “exotic” power, but it should register something.

Not much to fail, likely either switch is bust or relay is bust, easy to test both.

I have no idea why the tractor is doing such a thing, there is a button under the gear, it works, the lights are on but it does not move.

Why didn't toy say it's a child's toy. That would have saved some time. :palm:

Does the switch control the motor directly? Have you tested it using a multimeter set to continuity? You hinted at a relay, or is that a mistranslation? If the switch activates a relay, then have you checked that? Does it have a part number? What about the accelerator? Presumably it's a pedal? Does switch the motor directly or is there a relay or electronic controller?

There is a wiring harness under the switch. The switch only does back and forth, that's all.

I repaired a similar toy buggy many years ago. In my case there was a DPDT switch which controlled the direction. It was directly wired to the motor. To me, it's still not clear what the OP's relay is doing. I can't see how a single relay could perform the same function, unless it was some custom made component.

The relay actually has no features, the tractor works without it, they put it for remote control,

I will not extend the problem further, I could not solve the problem, but it is not necessary, I do not want help, I will not write an answer.

Where is the PCB? What do you mean by "remote control"?

There is a fuse in the battery, I did not test it, could this be the problem? It connects the + - terminals.

I have attempted to identify the components in your wiring. Please correct me if there is an error in my interpretation.

AIUI, two of your switches have spare terminals which you could use in the event that the in-use switch contacts are worn out.

I don't see any relay or remote functions.

Those foot switches go bad.  We had a kids VW and the switch went bad within a month.  Couldnt be repaired as the switch was not available separately and i didnt have the time to design a new one.
