1500w Strobe Tube Trigger Wire
« on: August 21, 2016, 06:52:33 am »
Hi
Busy working on a 1500w Strobe Light (for club use)
I see that the Trigger wire that is wrapped around the tube, was broken halfway along. (The trigger supply hooks up to this wire at one side.

You can hear the trigger pulse. But the strobe does not flash.
If I put a piece of copper wire across the piece where the Trigger wire is broken, then the system starts working (This thing is bright.)

Now, how to repair this. What type of wire do they use for the outer trigger, is it anything special,
or can I just rewind the whole thing with Copper wire. Or can I  just stretch the trigger wire pieces together, and twist them?

And, after working on this, should I clean the tube? If so, should I use Surgical Spirits, or Methalted Spirits, or something else (that can be obtained at a drug store)?

Thanks
P

Wire is nothing too special, just a stainless steel wire as it does not corrode easily. clean the tube with surgical spirits, so there is no residue left like in meths. Best is isopropyl alcohol, or pure methanol.
