Good day! I am looking to replace a what seems to be a rotary encoder for my NOVA Neptune lathe. Not sure what has happened but I somehow knocked off a speed controller knob along with a shaft of the encoder. It  should be a simple fix. But I am not sure what was the original part. This one has a push button. I am not familiar with digital encoders so much. What are the specs or other criteria when looking for a substitute? Thanks!

Detents/steps and Gray code steps per encoder detent/step (usually 2 or 4).

What are the characters on the top of the encoder?  I can't tell from the picture.

What is the physical size of the encoder?

You need to know the number of detents per revolution, and whether the two encoder switches are open at each detent, or alternate between open and closed from one detent to the next.

Edit:  I think in Canada you can order a replacement from Digikey once we've identified which one you need.
