Agilent ESG (e4423b) series diagnostic screen
« on: January 08, 2016, 11:48:14 pm »
In the Agilent ESG series signal generator, u106 eeprom (AT28C256E) on the motherboard holds the values shown on the diagnostic info screen. [Utility > Instrument Info/Help Mode > Diagnostic Info]

At 0x4B00-03 is the backlight hours * 3600, 0x0582-83 is attenuator count, etc.  But altering these values does not change what is shown on the display.  My guess is that u108 flash memory (LH28F032) is where these values are read from.

Does anyone know how to alter the values shown on the diagnostic info screen?

Because they are updated so often, it could also be that those values are stored in battery backed SRAM, and then checkpointed to the EEPROM periodically.

If so, you might have to update the EEPROM *and* remove the battery to force it to use the EEPROM value.

I'm sure there's a hidden command to reset one or both of the values.  Disassembly of the the binary would probably reveal how to do it.

You could also ask on the Keysight Signal Sources forum:
