Agilent/Keysight E364xA front bezel as spare part
« on: September 19, 2022, 08:28:21 am »
Hi,

I've recently got a working Agilent lab power supply very cheaply because it's front bezel is broken – see attached photo.
Keysight does not sell this part according to their support person.
So, I'm looking for pointers where to get a (used) front bezel for it, preferably in the EU.
Any pointers?

Fitting models are: E3640A, E3641A, E3642A, E3643A, E3644A and E3645A

Thanks,

pit

Unless you're really lucky and find someone with a front panel to sell (try the buy/sell section), your options are probably paying at least as much for a parts unit, 3d printing the side part and gluing that on, or 3d printing the entire front panel.

It will probably be near impossible to find the front panel, unless you use another instrument for parts.

However, I had a similar broken frame on one of these and glued it as best as possible.
Then  added a Keysight Bumper (front and rear) and the frame fracture was no longer visible.
There are 3 kinds of people in this world, those who can count and those who can not.

professional services that do UV laser SLA 3D printing (it only could cost same as original new part)
with cheap printers it will look even worse than repairing existing
with soldering iron set to 100..200C  can weld small plastic peaces and regrow bit by bit (must be same/similar plastic material so they can fuse together and not break)

That's why I suggested printing just the side that's broken. Gluing or welding it without permanently attaching it to the frame will probably be tough. But printing just the left side, which is not very visible, and gluing that to the rest of the front panel, could work.

Thanks for the tips, folks.

I presumed that printing itself would be the go to solution.
However, the issue is with the model for that. The side is rather complex and it would probably take many hours to model something that is printable and actually fits, probably takes several tries as well.

So, probably a good solution will be hunting for units with defects other than mechanical.
