Amazon Echo Show and Spot screen flickering plague

Has anyone got any clues on the screen flicker problem which seems to be affecting hundreds (thousands) of people?

Seems to be worse when the brightness is turned up or the unit is warm.
I have a 2yr old Echo Show that does it and am looking for hints before I rip it apart (its glued together).
