Andonstar microscope screen fades to white - power issue?
« on: July 25, 2021, 06:16:14 pm »
This is a bit of a there's a hole in the bucket problem. So my issue is with my Andonstar AD207 "microscope" that I bought for SMD soldering. Sometimes (it's an intermittent error) after running fine for about half a minute the screen starts going white in the corners and then after about 10-20 seconds the whole screen "implodes" - that is fades in on itself towards the middle. The resulting color is something greyish. A reboot usually helps.

I have tried using another usb power cable directly to the screen from a charger, instead of using the power lead from the same on-cord controller that is used to distribute power to the screen as well as to the lamps. With a separate power source the screen is much better but can show some fading in the corners from time to time.

it's as if the screen looses its pixel driving power. Could this be caused by a failing capacitor?
I found this youtube video of a guy who had the same issue on his desktop monitor, this is more or less exactly what happens to my screen too: (I don't have to smack mine...)

Just curious as to what this might be and if it can be fixed.  :-BROKE
