another 2445B repair
« on: November 01, 2020, 02:21:54 pm »
So I have this 2245B for a few years and it started failing power on tests(05 fail 44), so I've recapped power supply and regulator boards as there have been some caps with bad ESR. But it did not solve the issue.
Next thing was replacing the smd elyt. capacitors on A5 board because they were leaking electrolyte but not caused damage on pcb traces yet. That solved failing self test but traces have become very noisy.
Look at these images at various timebases:

I tried to turn on BW limit, that somehow cleaned up the traces but soon CRT went dark and now it doesn't show anything at all.

So now what? Replace caps on A1 board? The 47u/25V ones have around 0.9-1R ESR. Or did something died?

Oh, and now after power on it's stuck on ADD - so test 05 error xx

All voltages seem ok, but can't measure ripple without another scope  :-//

So after some measuring I found out that leaking electrolyte did cause damage on resistors around dac312. Maybe some other components as well.

HAH! Resistors replaced with THT just for test and it works now! Also I had to desolder some parts in that area and properly cleanup the board.

Trace nice and clean, but readout is now sligthly out of focus.

I have ordered some precision resistors for a replacement and we will see.
