HP 54601A Noisy?
« on: March 12, 2022, 06:17:42 pm »
Hi there all,
I'm new to this forum and electronics in general. I recently got a HP 54601A as my first scope for a decent price on ebay. First of all love the CRT on it, makes me want more CRT stuff now! I have been messing about with it and found the it seems really noisy. i don't know if its meant to be like this or if there's something wrong with it? I believe that there's an issue with it. i have an image of what i'm seeing. i don't really know where to start. hope someone can help me out please.

I don't see if "20 MHz" mode is turned on. Without it - it can be noisy.

Ah okay, I honestly have no idea if its on. Do you know how to see if its on? I don't see that as an option.

What does the cal output look like? Noise should be about +/- 1 LSB.

Bandwidth limit (20 MHz) in in the channel menu.
