Tektronix TDS544A with the usual fail acq and attn/acq.
Replaced all the electrolytic capacitors.
Triple and quadruple cleaned the board. Soap water toothbrush.
No chance whatsoever. Got the console output working over opt13 with adapter cable on j40.
First time ever seeing this info. Maybe someone could look through this.
Thanks

Usually there are one or more open traces or vias.  Often, the opens are hidden under SMD parts, so they can be hard to find.  The last one I repaired took hours of inspection to find all of the opens.

Trying to trouble shoot it based on the diagnostics will lead to frustration since there are probably multiple problems.  Also, many of the opens might create subtle problems that the diagnostics will miss (such as connections to decoupling caps).

Thanks Andy for the reply.

The printout does show some interesting stuff.
On one line it says the boot rom ID is bogus ?? What could that mean ??
And the last line something about not loading a fd0 startup.bat file ???
I don't know.

Yes I'm going to have to go back over the acq board with a fine tooth comb.
I really need a better microscope.

Hello whataboy
Yes that is what that means, not startup.bat
Someone on the other forum told me that's normal.
Along with the bootrom bogus ID. All normal.
I guess TEK didn't thing anyone would ever see that ;-)
Interesting things you find out when running the console
thanks

My TDS 684C has a HDD (well it is disconected because it won't boot if connected) and with i plugged in, It showed the Tektronix logo at boot, with out it, now it doesn't show it  :'(

guess you could put the tek logo on a floppy to show it at start up, the HDD has a startup.bat too!

Well it seems to me that according to this console print out that there is not much failing on this scope.
But I still get absolutely no signal from the inputs on any channel.
The noise does not increase on the traces even at the lowest voltage vertical scale.
There seems to be only two main fails. Everything else passes.
So the cpu and acq boards are talking to each other.
Unfortunately I am just having trouble interpreting the meaning of these errors ?!!?
