Anritsu 37369D VNA boot/start-up floppy disks?
« on: January 07, 2021, 05:07:49 am »
Hi,

Does anyone have a set of bootable floppy disks that would have come with the Anritsu 37369D VNA?

A friend of mine just bought a used Anritsu 37369D VNA  that is getting stuck while trying to boot (it shows "completing initialization..." message, followed by several beeps,  but never shows the Anritsu splash screen, and keeps showing the "completing initialization..." message.  We do hear the  attenuators click, and the LEDs for Port1 and Port2 also come on,  and
go back and forth, but the screen still shows "completing
initialization..." - we have waited more than an hour but still no progress
from this message.

We wonder if the startup software on the internal hard-disk (flash disk) might have gotten corrupted.  Thus, we would like to try booting the instrument from startup/diagnostic
floppies, and reformat the internal hard disk and reinstall the system software.

We checked Anritsu website but were not able to find the system software.

It is normal this units show this problem after 10 year or so, the time keeper (BBRAM) die and the boot information got lost, will need to replace the BBRAM and reinstall the boot code, also will need to reinstall the cal factor and if you don't have then saved in a disk you will need a specific frequency counter, power meter and power sensor to be able to perform the adjustment and save.
Good luck

Hi there,
You can check out the Anritsu-Wiltron group over at groups.io. There are several discussions going on regarding keeping the 37XXX series going and/or repair work.

Best regards
