Any experience with GPIB-USB-HS National Instruments from eBay?
« on: January 23, 2018, 10:52:04 am »
As for Agilent 82357B (see topic 'Flood of new Agilent 82357B GPIB-USB adaptors on eBay the real deal?'), there are plenty of these NI GPIB-USB-HS adapters on eBay.

I really doubt that these are genuine, due to the quantity available on eBay, through various sellers - mainly from China.

Hence my question: did you purchase one and opened it to check if it is genuine? Is it stable with your OS/devices (i.e. no crashes, no disconnections ...)?

Thanks for your input  :-+

I've got two, one looks exactly like real deal, second one looks different (inside), but both work just fine so far, unlike fake 82357B's...

I bougt NI and it is perfect no complaints.
But pay attention to choosing HS, it is supported on win7-10.
Bought it from US seller

PS: i had no need to open it since it was working flawlessly and i registered it with NI by serial number.

Hi TiN & Samogon,

Thanks for your input :-+ Really nice idea to register product online. If this is a fake, you know instantly. And yes, good idea to purchase on US (and not in China)

And another reason i choose NI, i use LabView and thought that it would work without any compatibility issues and no additional drivers needed.

The NI ones are a lot more expensive than the Agilent 82357B on eBay. I'm not sure why that is? Almost all of both NI & Agilent are shipping from China. Not sure of any way how to tell if any are less trustworthy than others, so I'm intending to buy one of the "brand new" Agilent ones. I'm buying from UK. Any advice?

One Agilent 82357B is on its way to me from China. Hopefully it will arrive on the weekend, I can tell you then if it is working fine.

Another sample of the NI purchased on Ebay which appeared to be real and registered fine and works fine.  I haven't taken it apart so can only base my opinion of real/fake based on the case, the literature packaged with it and the CD packaged with it all of which could be faked well enough to fool me pretty easily, and the fact that it registered.

I bought NI for much the same reasons as Samogon.

I bought  such "AGILENT 82357B - USB/GPIB Interface High-Speed USB 2.0 - NEW IN ORIGINAL BOX" some weeks ago for 90 EURO, well accepting it may a potential fake (it is a fake in my opinion). But I not yet tried to get it regstered at Agilent (the final test).
So far it works without any issues (I tested it with original Agilent IO driver v15 and several of my GPIB gears (see my profile for list).
I have not tested yet it with Raspberry Pi logging setup (which as far as I know is the most critical environment).
