Any one have luck to repair Metcal MX-PTZ tweezers broken cord?

I've had MX-PTZ tweezers for about 5 years, in the last year of light use it started giving me a LOAD ERROR sometimes when I use them.

After dismantling the plastic, I got inside and found a damaged coaxial cable in the fixation point (poor design, does not prevent the cable from turning).

to repair the cable, you need to disassemble the sleeve where two cables fit. one from the station, the other to the second hub.

I thought it was threaded, but I can't move it when I try to turn it by holding on to the slot on the steel side and the square on the brass. I try not to break it, so I don't apply too much force. holds on tight... tried to heat it up - still no luck.

Has anyone had this kind of luck with this repair?

The general design is a sleeve on the wire on the right AMP 16-14 - 2.5mm crimp, which should hold the wire. broke after her.

The wire enters one cartridge holder and exits from there to the second. glued in the middle.

inside, a 22µH inductor and a 270pf capacitor, which are connected in series on one side, are soldered to the outer conductor of the bushing and the signal core from them goes to the second cartridge.



the central core without mass comes from the incoming cable. The total mass of the braided cables is soldered on the outside, to the lug on the back.

The second cartridge - I already wrote that it has a slightly different design, since it regulates the convergence of the tweezers. on the first - adjustment back and forth. When disassembling, it is better not to twist the slot - then the sleeve will not be put on. very precise fit.



After a little violence - we get access inside.



Everything is simple here - the core comes to the center, the braid is soldered onto the outer sleeve.

the clamps that hold the adjusting screws are removed by knocking out the axis. it looks like a rivet, but it's not a rivet.

assembly is a little more complicated - since it is necessary to assemble with the wires wired in place.

In the second post you showed it dissasembled, can you confirm is just a press-fit?

cartridge insert is press-fit. very tight.
