Datasheet for the tda 8920bth shows mode pin needing 5 volts to activate amp and oscillator pin with 30kohm resistor between neg VSSa and oscillator pin. I take it means -12 volts with 30k resistor to osc pin.  The rest is obvious +-25 volts on pin 1 and 2 of amp module ground on pin 3, oscillation on pin 4 and mode on pin 5. Is this correct?  So if does not work the module is fried and needs repair?

Hard to know.

The first logic test would be to put it back in the unit and test that it works still.

Then you will know if it is fried or not.
