A friend of mine had issue with this laptop not powering on. He watched a youtube video about unpluging battery to reset the laptop and ripped off the connector with the tracks. I bodged a connector on wires to avoid repeating the story. Unfortunately laptop still didn't start. A bit weird behaviour.

With the battery connected
- If I hit power-on, white LED lits up and goes off.

With the battery and power supply connected
- If I hit power-on, white LED lits up and goes off.
- If I disconnect the power supply and connect it back, white LED lights up and goes off.

Without the battery and power supply connected
- the orange led lits up and system is booting.

I suspected that there is an issue with the battery but now I am not sure anymore. There is a transistor on the battery circuit that gets very very hot, but when I tested it it shows normal readings. Battery cells show normal voltage but there is no voltage on the battery connector when unplugged.

Could be something causing excesive current draw on the mainboard that is made accessible only when battery is connected. Resistance of the battery terminals on the mainboard is in Mohms.

Laptop has 2 usb-c ports but only one seams to take the power in.

Any suggestions as to how to find the fault? is applying voltage on the battery connectors is a bad idea?

BTW, I hate how this crap is build, I will never buy anything from asus.
