Auto-off on digital 200kg scales not working

What in the world would cause that? I think it has some hidden little IC like a calculator. Where as it used to auto-off after maybe 1-2 min (I can't remember) now it will sometimes stay on for  days until I take out a battery, and single beep once and a while. Other times it does shut off quick I think. Or sometimes hours later I should pay attention to it , but...

Maybe it's a poor implementation, where it monitors the scale value and if the value doesn't change for awhile it auto shuts off. But ADCs sometimes like to flutter between numbers like your DMM, and that could be interfering with it. Try zeroing the scale and see if it auto shots off.
