Title: Beckman Industrial/(later Wavetek) Digital Multimeter DM27XT
Post by: mholin on August 18, 2024, 05:51:48 pm
Was testing to see if a bug zapper grid voltage (=< 2800VDC) had discharged yet.  Set meter to highest range (1000 VDC) and probed across the grid.  Heard an audible arc so voltage must have discharged into something in the front end of the meter.  Now all functions that use the V-Ohm/Com input just reads "OL" (over range).  Even the continuity test with the probes shorted reads OL with no beep.  Opened it up and found input resistor R31 47 ohms, completely open.  Replaced with new resistor but meter still reads "OL".  Any insight into what other component to check much appreciated.

I would say it's killed, dead.
