B&K Dyna-Quik 500 Tube Tester E-cap
« on: December 28, 2021, 05:37:59 pm »
I have a Dyna-Quik 500, Type 83 tube version that according to the manual has an aluminum 250uF 6V cap on the meter.  There are no markings on it, so I can't look it up for other specs.  Is there a reason I might not want to replace that one with a general-purpose series E-cap of those values or higher voltage?

Thanks,
Ross

I would say round to the nearest EIA value like 220uF or 270uF at 16V or 25V for a replacement electrolytic capacitor.
We don't know what the panel meter is - if it has a resistor (voltmeter) or raw uA ammeter. Usually there would be some clamp diodes to protect it.
Manual I found here http://jogis-roehrenbude.de/Roehren-Geschichtliches/Roe-Pruefer/B&K-500/bk500_manual.pdf

Those were my thoughts on the caps.  I just needed to run it past others.
Thank you.
