BK Precision 1673 DC Power Supply: Anyone have the service manual or LED?
(1/1)
abitofhelp:
Hello,
The voltage LED on the slave side of this power supply has a dead segment, so I need to replace it (see attached image). I am looking for the replacement part and hope the service manual will provide more details about it. I haven't cracked open the case because I want to assess the task before starting it. I'd appreciate your help finding this information or a working new/used green LED component.
Thanks,
Mike

Here are some schematics, even about the Volt/Ammeters. They're ICL7107-type. But the displays are not specified. I attach only the best-match PDF here, there are several at the end of that thread.

It seems that GW-1672, 1673 are made by Manson as PW-3023, 3033.
I experience the same problem of half a dozen names and companies for the same thing from manson, like ELV, Voltcraft, Peaktech etc., as I'm trying to repair a Manson DCS3600-Series model and there is no really useful documentation about the remote commands around.
So, generally if you want to find information, try do find out the diffent model names and google them all. And scroll through some pages to get past the annoying amazon/ebay "results". Maybe someone has already solved a problem for a "same, same but different"-model on some small private webpage or at youtube.
By the way someone here on the forum claims that BK precision has a good customer service which sent him some schematics. But that has been 12 years ago, so I guess that might have changed:

I assume your problem is no rocket science which would need any schematics at all. Just check if the ICL7107 or the LED-Segment is broken. In the latter case you will maybe have to change all 3 displays, if you're optically picky, as a single new one even of the same type might have a different brightness.

Thank you for sharing the info, Wollvieh! I called BKP in California to ask about a replacement LCD display and a service manual. I was told to submit a request from their Support webpage. The person said that they review those submissions a few times each week. I've sent a request asking about a replacement LCD panel and its cost. I also asked about getting a copy of the service manual. I will post what I learn and receive here.

Usually there is a part name printed on the display (unless they used a no name part).
Otherwise find out whether it is common anode or cathode type, measure the physical dimensions and find a replacement, pinout is relatively standardized.
Most probably the color or style will be slightly different…
Just in case the BKP response is non-satisfying

OP before you fault the LED display, take the power supply apart and look for bad solder joints. As a basic check, they could be at the display, connector, the IC etc.
You can also likely read off the part number of the display towards ordering a new one, but they are not easy to desolder.
