BM235 disassembly
« on: January 27, 2021, 09:50:56 pm »
I need to disassemble my BM235 as a mud wasp has filled a connector hole with mud (as they do). To remove the top board do I have to unsolder the short wire or does it pull free. See attached picture

Well I  managed to clean the socket but seem to have caused another problem in the process. It is now dropping a segment on each digit in the display as per attached photo

If you're lucky you've trapped a crumb between the zebra strip and LCD or PCB, if you're unlucky the microcontroller has been hit by ESD.
Watch out for screws also: Tight enough is good, too tight is bad...

I have a BM235 and sometimes it kept have a short on the battery as I turn the knob. I took it apart once and might have some solder balls, but IDK, I think I've still had the problem, of turning the knob and getting the flashing low battery signal, that I'd expect from some short pulling the battery way down.
